December 2, 2009: Kercheval's History of the Valley of Virginia
Our new online edition of A History of the Valley of Virginia by Samuel Kercheval (1833; 3rd ed. 1902) is released. The book is fully searchable.
December 31, 2007: New Online Edition of Foote's Sketches of North Carolina is released!
Our new full-text edition of Sketches of North Carolina, Historical and Biographical, Illustrative of the Principles of a Portion of Her Early Settlers, by Rev. William Henry Foote (1846), is now available and searchable. Read about this new edition, including citation examples, on the Foote's Sketches of North Carolina home page. Or go straight to the Table of Contents.
We have all 561 pages and accompanying metadata programmed and typed in and are busy proofreading. We have already started work on the two volumes of Foote's Sketches of Virginia as well. Many of Tennessee's early settlers passed through North Carolina or Virginia on their way here.
New Online Edition of Ramsey's Annals of Tennessee
July 1, 2007: Our new online edition of Ramsey's Annals of Tennessee is now all uploaded and searchable. We are still proofreading and adding annotations and metadata, but the text is ready for reading.
New! Expanded Search Features
April 8, 2007: Our search now features search groups. You can search our whole site, or just one book, or just the document archives. Choose with the new "All groups" picklist on our search page. We have also have added an improved search of Rootsweb's Chalkley's Extracts and of Goodspeed's Tennessee county histories at TNGenWeb where available.
New Online Edition of Peyton's History of Augusta County, Virginia
February 28, 2007: We have released our new online fully searchable edition of Peyton's History of Augusta County, Virginia (1882), now in beta, including a custom Google Maps-based map. Ramsey's Annals of Tennessee is next!

June 29, 2006: We have released a new online edition of Waddell's Annals of Augusta County, Virginia 1726-1871 in fully searchable form.
More of What's New:
- June 2006: Hill Collection news: The beautiful love letters, 1853 to 1881, are now available in both images and text.
- March 24, 2006: We have started work on the Mead Collection. This contains a diary and series of letters from the 1840's Gold Rush era.
- Documents containing information on ancestry going back to the tenth century and the Magna Carta are now available for viewing in the Kendrick Collection 'M4' index.

- We have a new site search capability that lets you search our entire site, including the full text of the scanned documents.
- The styles for the site should now work in the most recent versions of the Netscape and FireFox browsers.
Thirteen files of old papers from the Kendrick Collection, mostly letters about genealogy, have been scanned, transcribed, and uploaded as of March 16, 2007.
