RoaneTnHistory.org was founded with the desire to help make history readily available wherever possible by placing out-of-copyright material on the web easily searchable and easily readable to anyone with a computer. We have attempted to preserve the original materials where possible.

Our First Project: The Kendrick Family Collection
The Kendrick Collection consists of some thousands of old papers relating to Harriman and Roane County, Tennessee, Revolutionary War ancestors, and genealogies of families, mostly in the southeastern United States. Materials are still being catalogued and scanned, and will be for some time. The collection includes some wills, old materials of the Colonial Dames and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and many letters dealing with genealogical investigations and queries. Documents found so far have mentioned Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Massachusetts, California, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and of course Tennessee.
Labor for this project is being donated by archivists of the Southwest Point Chapter of the DAR of Kingston, Tennessee. The papers were kindly donated by Mrs. Nancy Evans Newcomb to Mrs. Mary Klemmer Bell, Founding Regent of that chapter, who has made them available to us for scanning, transcription, and online display.
Do you have one or more out-of-copyright books or old documents of possible genealogical interest to past or current families of Roane County, Tennessee, and environs? Would you like to see them easily accessible online? We are trying to create a useful collaborative archive and welcome new projects.
