E. L. DEW OKEMAH, OKLA. Jan. 20 1927 Mr. C. K. Hill Harriman, Tenn. Dear Sir, No doubt you will be surprised to get a letter from a stranger, but I have been trying to trace my ancestors back to the American Revolution and in so doing was advised by Miss Bass of Richmond Va. that you were the one person that could help me. I was a Miss Hill and my people came from Tenn. to Ark. My Grand father page two was Geo. Hill, his father Reuben Hill and his mother was Joeasy Hank's (or Hauk's) of Ky. They lived in Tenn. and my Grand father had letters from his mother written in 1847 which I have in my possession now. Joeasy Hanks (or Hauks) was a sister of Elijah Hank's (or Hauk's) a Baptist preacher & lived in Maury Co. Tenn. Now, what I want to know is this, what was Reuben Hill's father's name? and was he in the American Revolution 1776. I want to join the D.A.R's. Can you help me out on this data. I will be so glad to hear from you and can assure you any in formation will be appreciated. The dates and information I have was taken from our old bible. The Thomas Hill and John Hill data was told to me by an old relative D. R. Hill of Eugene, Ore, son of Hank's (or Hauk's), Neville, Hill. Thanking you for any in formation on this line. Respt Mrs. E. L. Dew 421 South 4th St. Okemah, Okla. I was Miss Caroline J. Hill ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
