DEW 421 South 4th St. OKEMAH, OKLA, Feb. 6, 1927 Dear Mr. Hill, I was really quite disappointed when it was discovered that we were not of the same family, because when Miss Bass sent me your name I knew we were. The Mr. Hill in California is of my line for I had all the data on his father. I wrote to said address. No doubt he is dead. The letter came back. Reuben Hill (1761-1833) & wife Juaisy* Hank's (or Hauk's) (1764-1847) lived in Cumberland Co. Ky. and Page 2 all their children were born there just 16 Reuben Hill's father came from West Va. and I am told married a Miss Neville or Nevill. I am going to try for my self a little longer and if I have no luck will ask you to help me out--like you am not flushed as to money. in fact my oil well hasn't come in yet. al tho' they are thick all around us. we really have a wonderful country. \ May I ask Page 3 what business you are in? T'was kind of a joke about my age and I don't see why I should want to put any thing down on paper wen the real date wont be guilty again. Am having lots of fun out of this job of mine wen if I never get to know who fought to free this old country. Should you with out effort run across any thing that will help me along do write (over) Mrs. E. L. Dew Back of Page 3 Am so new on this tracing the family and it has become a joke to my twin boys 13* (Note: should be 15) years old. each time The postman comes They want to know if we have any new kin. really I located a D. R. Hill a cousin in Eugene Ore. 69 years old That writes the best letters and real "pep" for one of his age. Has a dandy car and is al-ways on the go and is well up in years I say. Jane D.
