Harriman, Tennessee. August 12, 1920. Dr. Arthur Adams, Trinity College, Hartford, Conn. Dear Dr. Adams:- Your letter of the 9th and the list of ancestors, received. Please accept my thanks for your kindness in this matter. I anticipate no trouble with these papers when they are filed, but it is very gratifying to have your approval, before they are filed. I am delighted to tell you that the Collins family is a well known one in Kentucky. Collins History of Kentucky is accepted as authority by most of the Patriotic Societies. I do not know just the line of descent from John Collins the Methodist preacher, to the author of Collins History, but I am sure it is the same family. General Richard Collins of Maysville is mentioned at least once in the history, page 49. Write to the Editor of the Kentucky Historical Society Magazine, Frankfort, Ky., and I am sure they can put you in touch with present day descendants. You see I am taking you at your work andnot going to any trouble about this matter. If you do not find in the Collins History or get from the Historical Society, just what you want, let me know and I will see if I cant assist you. Again thanking you for your kindnesses, I am, Sincerely yours, CKH/K ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
