Harriman, Tennessee, Dec. 1, 1920. My dear Mr. Parham:- At last I am enclosing the B/L covering the shipment of your mantel. I did not succeed in getting it off within the specified time you mentioned in your letter, but I did the best I could and hope it is not too late. Roe could not get any one to crate it for him, and I failed too, but finally found a man who did the work for $1.00, which I paid. I intended prepaying the freight but they sent it out before I had time, but dont suppose that makes any difference. I thank you very much for the notes on the Donelson-Eaton families. I had already gotten what you sent and more too from the notes you gave Mrs. Joe Foute, She loaned us her papers you gave her, and the Eaton's is what I am look for at the present time. Away back there, at Eatons X Roads a Miss ------------ Eaton married a McPherson and their daughter Jennie McPherson married John M. Clark, and they were the great grandparents of Mrs. Jack Tarwater. I do not know the name of this Miss Eaton, nor the names of her parents, so you see I have some thing yet to learn. Without knowing the names of Miss Eaton's parents, I cannot tell whether there is any connection with the Donelson family or not. I thank you very much for taking the trouble to find and copy these notes for me. I sent you by prepaid express, several days ago, your S. C. History and Census for 1790, together with some copies of the Va. Historical Society Magazine and S. C. Hist. Society Magazine. Hope you received them promptly. I thank you very much for the loan of your books. Don’t work too hard and come to see me when you have time. As ever your friend, CKH/K ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved. Archivist: Transcription and scan by G. Anne Sloan
