Dear Sir:- Will you please send me a list of the members of the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Virginia? Also advise if my ancestor Maj. Samuel Lane, who was Justice of the Quorum for Anne Arundel Co. Md., 1674-82; Major of Provincial Militia; Present at a Council of War July 20, 1676 (Maryland), (Reference: Register of the Maryland Society of the Colonial Dames of America, page 185) would make me eligible to the Va. Society of Colonial Wars? Also advise if the services of the following men would be acceptable or not. Col. John Frogg (Gentlemen). Reference Augusta County Order Book No. XVII, page 193; John Frogg proves that in 1755 he went out on the frontier of this State with a body of men under his command as a Colonel or Major and served for some time. William Strother, was a Member of the House of Burgesses from King George County about 1725-27 and High Sheriff of King George County 1726. \ Capt. Anthony Savage, 1660 Justice and High Sheriff of Gloucester County. I shall be glad to hear from you in regard to these matters.
