McClung left a very valuable reference library , when he died, to the Lawson McGhee Library in Knoxville, I want to see it very much. Dr. Joseph P. Eaton m. May 28 1840 Louisa Longmire dau of Elijah Longmire in Anderson County, Tenn., in tax list 1836 Jefferson Co., Tenn. 15th District was Andrew C. Eaton, I think he was father of Mrs. Foute, also there was William G. Eaton. In Summers, L.P.- History of S.W.Va/printed in Richmond Va/ 1903 by J. L. Hill Co., pg 103 Amos Eaton 1750 settled 7 miles east of Long Island, where Eaton Fort was built; 1777 Robt Young appointed constable from Amos Eatons to Pattersons Mill "lowest settlements on Holston River in Washington Co. VA., see pg 268; pg 45 Edmund Pendleton, entered land in 1750 on "Renfros Creek"; page 103 James Bryan about 1769 settled near the present residence of Capt Kendrick, Moab Va., and erected Bryan's fort, while Wm Cooke settled upon Spring Creek, then called Renfros creek; pg 137 as to the lands of Pendleton on April 2 1750 950 acres were sold to Wm Cooke and Robt Craig on Renfros creek; Census 1790 and tax list 1782-1785 gives no names of Renfroes in the State of Va.; But lots of Fords, Fore, as follows Culverain, Christopher, David, Dorrell D., Edward, Fran, Fred, Fredrick, George, James, John, Mary, Michael, Milton, Richard, Tady, Tandy, Wm and Wm jr., in following Counties-Amelia, Flavannia?Halifax.Mecklenberg,Prince Edward,Richmond,Cumberland, Rocking- ham,Fairfax,Pittslvania,Stafford,Greenbrier,; Milton in ward 1 City of Richmond, was 24 years of age.; Pensioners in 1840 Dabney Ford age 89, Preston Co. Va.,' Ann Ford age 67 Smith Co Tenn., John Ford Sr. age 78 Dist #2 Bledsoe Co. Tenn.; Summers book pg 238 July 1776 with expedition against the Cherokees,Joshua Renfro and Amos Eaton; page 239 Solomon Kendrick, One James Kendrick was in Mecklenberg County, Va.; William Kendrick deeded land in Blount County Tenn on Nine Mile March 26 1810, and had a suit in Courts against one James, see minutes March 29 1810 (these are old minutes of the Court, not indexed, I found in hands of Major Will A. McTeer, and are short in our County records, I have tried to get him to put them in Court but have not been able to get him to do so; he has three books, 1795 to 1804; and 1804 to 1807; 1807 to 1811; in same book Feb 24 1808 Benjamin Ford is a witness to a deed; Saturday Feb 27, 1808 Alexander Ford suit, May 28 1808 is Tax on 338 acres Land; None of this helps you with Wm Renfroe nor possible Mary (polly) Ford-Renfroe. The ladies have organized a Chapter D.A.R. here and are at work investigating, so cannot spare Books I have. I would be pleased to see Waddells Annals of Augusta County Va. and will not keep it long if you will be so kind as to sent it to me. I have been out of work since the 23 of January, until this week, I am helping to assess Taxes in Maryville and Alcoa 7000 people.
