MARYVILLE TELEPHONE EXCHANGE W. J. HUFFSTETLER, MANAGER __________ (Seal: INDEPENDENT LOCAL AND LONG DISTANCE TELEPHONE) LOCAL AND LONG DISTANCE RATES: RESIDENCE $1.00 SERVICE BY AND FOR THE PEOPLE OFFICE AND BUSINESS $2.50 C. K. Hill MARYVILLE, TENN 6/17 1921 Harriman, Tenn Dear Sir Glad to hear from you. The enquiry is one I am not able to answer. G. Grandfather bought the land as soon as he arrived in Tennessee, kept it only 6 or 8 years and sold it to his brother-in-law R. Bearden or Marcus Bearden. I think Miss Kate White has been investigating old marriage license in Knox and I know she is well posted as to most of Knox Co. names, she might aid you. Col. Saul McKinney was a decendent of the one you are after, I think but I do not know if he left any history behind as to his ancestors or not. I do not know if his widow is alive or not. I wish I could help you. I would like to go to the McClung Collection, tried twice but they were cataloguing it and could do no good. I do not get any chances to run over there as am busy day and part of the night with, 2 Companies of Telephones, one winding up one going on and getting new business then finishing as Tax assessor 4 wards in Maryville which is a job that I do not want again. Some time when not pressed I would be glad to get the names of the Donaldsons you wrote about who were brothers and sisters of my Grandfather Snoddy's 1st wife, of Bull Gap, Tenn. Glad to help you when I can do so, so write and will try. Your friend, Will E. Purham. ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005.
