SOUTHERN RAILWAY SYSTEM LINES WEST W. E. WHEELOCK SUPERINTENDENT OF TERMINALS CHATTANOOGA, TENN. October 18, 1920 Dear Mr. Hill: Your letter received and I am very sorry indeed that I am very little able to give you much infor- mation on the subject asked for. My grandmother Anderson's father was Robert Renfroe, he was mustering officer of Roane County, his wife was Catherine Coulter. The Renfroe's always claimed, through the ancient Scotch baronetcy of Renfroe, kinship with the Royal Family of Eng- land, and one of the titles of the Prince of Wales is Earl of Renfroe, when the Prince Albert of Wales traveled in America he traveled under that title, the Earl of Renfroe. My D.A.R. membership comes through the Browns and McElwees and not through the Renfroes. Aunt Sallie Patton can give you the kinship to Mrs. Tarwater. Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Tarwater's mother, was a cousin of my grand mother. I can remember my grandmother telling us when we were children of the noble ancestry of her house and she knew the line of descent but do not know now whether any one has kept it, would like very much to have it. I am sorry I cannot give you more definite information. Very sincerely Amanda Neal Wheelock Rhea Springs ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
