My dear Mr. Hill,--

   I am exceedingly sorry to have no more report to make
than enclosed pages.  The Pittsylvania records contained
very scant notice of the Russell family, and the inference
that I make from my observation is that the Russell family
proper lived over in Halifax, an adjoining county, and
later some of the family moved over into Pittsylvania

The census of 1767 showed there were none living here at
that time, but that George Russell owned land here.

I have not yet looked into the Randolph matter but will do
so.

Again regretting that the records disclosed so little of
interest to you, (-and I would suggest that you look into
the Halifax records) and thanking you for your patronage, I
am,
