Harriman, Tennessee, June 16, 1924. Mr dear Mrs. Carrington:- I am in despair over the Russell family notes from you, which came several days ago. I have gone carefully over them and like you I see no connection between your Russell’s and my Capt. george Russell born in Va., died in Grainger County Tenn. From the Camapbell-Pilcher and Kindred families, page 288, I have a complete list of the children of Gen. Wm. Russell and their descendants, but not a George in there any where. I have not personally examined the records of Grainger County, but a descendant living in Chattanooga has, and she says the only thing she found, showed he came from Pittslyvania County Va. From the records of Pittsylvania County sent me by Mrs. Clement, you can see that he George Russell very likely lived in Halifax County. I do not know of any thing further that can be done, do you? I was hoping that your book would have some thing about this branch of the Russell family. George Russell was a brother-in-law of Capt. Wm. Bean of Tennessee, and they are all supposed to have come to Tennessee from Pittsylvania County. Bean’s wife is thought to have been a sister of George Russell and Elizabeth, wife of George Russell is thought to have been a sister of Wm. Bean, but so far I have found no records proving these facts. I am deeply grateful to you for your trouble and more than sorry that nothing can be had about the Russell family. With all good wishes for you and yours, I am, Always your friend, CKH/K ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
