In the name of God Amen-- I Joab Hill of the county of Clark in the State of Missouri of sound and disposing mind although weak in body and not expecting to live desirous of disposing of the Estate with which God has blest me according to my will do hereby declare and publish this as my last will and testament. In the first place I resign my body to the dust and my soul to God and my wish is that after my death my body shall be buried in a decent Christian like manner. I dispose of my Worldly goods as follows-- My Just debts are to be paid first out of my personal Estate if it should be sufficient for that purpose. My wife Elizabeth Hill shall have my land her lifetime and all the stock except what I shall hereafter name farming utensils household and kitchen furniture, and all my negroes except what I shall mention hereafter and at her death my son George Washing- ton Hill shall have all of the Hatcher tract of land that now belongs to me and also my saddle shall belong to him at my death. To my daughter Elizabeth Hill and her heirs I bequeath two negro children named Milley and Charly which she shall receive at my death Also forty acres of land that I entered namely the North East fourth of the North east quarter of section seven to be delivered to her at the death of my wife also one Mare called Nelly but I except her colt if (Page 2) she has one this year She shall have the mare at my death (but the colt shall be given to my wife) Also one cow shall be given to Elizabeth when she marries. This is to my children to whom I have heretofore given a part of my land-- My son Claiborne Hill I wish to heir my Leghorn hat To my son Isaac Hill I bequeath my coat. To William Hill I will my Rifle Gun. (Will of Joab Hill-continued) To my daughter Maria L. Keith I give a roan Heifer--To my sons Russell To James Hill I give a Heifer a piece if they should come back from Oregon. To George W. Hill I give my musket. At the death of my wife it is my wish that there shall be an equal division (of -crossed out) made of all my effects either by sale or some other satisfactory manner. I wish it to be understood that the division shall be made equally among all my children. I nominate and appoint Claiborne Hill as the Executor of this my last will and testament. Trump the Subscribing Witnesses thereto appeared in Open Court and being duly sworn depose and sayeth that the said Joab Hill did in their presence sign and acknowledge the foregoing writing as his last will and testament and that at the time of so doing they believed him to be of sound mind and desposing memory and that they at his request subscribed their names to the same as Witnesses thereto in his presence and in the presence of each other which said proof is deemed by the Court sufficient in law to establish said will all of which is ordered by the Court to be certified which is accordingly (Will of Moab Hill-continued) done.
