Harriman, Tennessee, March 28, 1921 Mr. R. A. Atkinson, 221 N. Liberty St., Baltimore, Md. My dear Mr. Atkinson:- Nov.20th last, I wrote you asking if you had among your Lane notes, proof that the Sarah Lane who married Zacariah McCubbins, was the daughter of Rev. Tidence Lane and wife Esther Bibber, but up to the present time, I have not had a reply. I would like to get this proof, for which I think I can get $15.00, which I will be glad to send you. I want it for Miss Eleanor Hull, The Arundel, Baltimore, Md., for her client Mrs. Landstreet of Richmond, Va. If you have this, let me know and I will advise Miss Hull that I can get it for the amount stated above, and if she does not sent it, you wont need to send the proof to me, as I do not need it for myself. I regret to bother you about this point, but I have tried to get this record from the owners of the Tidence Lane Bible and the County records of Jefferson Co., but have failed. I think I wrote you that I had employed Miss Hull to go ahead with the Lane search for additional Colonial Dames and D.A.R. claims. She writes me that she has found one each, i.e. "Dutton Lane was Surveyor in 1704, May 22, for Baltimore County, See H.W.2.p.340 Baltimore Land Records Office." "In Oath of Allegiance for Baltimore Co. (See Folder $300 Md. Hist. Society) Richard Lane & Dutton Jr., both sign" As soon as I hear from Miss Hull again, I am going to take up this Dutton Lane Surveyor claim with Dr. Culver, and if he O.K.'s it, will pass it on to you and Cousin Lulane. The Richard Lane "Signer" D.A.R. claim, I will have one of my nieces file supplemental papers on, and as soon as it is verified, will also pass that on to you both.l Miss Hull is anxious to continue the search for added C.D. claims in the following lines, through the wife of Richard Tydins; Margaret Burrage, wife of Maj. Saml. Lane; Sarah wife of Richard Lane; and Esther Bibber (Roberts-Bobby) parents. I have not decided yet what I will do about these lines. With kindest regards and every good wish, I am, Cordially yours, CKH:K ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
