Harriman, Tennessee, June 7, 1920. Mr. R.A. Atkinson, 21 North Liberty St., Baltimore, Md. My dear Mr. Atkinson:- I know you are a very busy man, but I cannot resist the temptation to send you another letter, trying to thank you for your very great favor, in writing your Aunt that I was welcome to your Lane data. Mrs. Schleicher sent it to me, and I cannot tell you the joy I felt when it arrived Saturday. I would have written you that day, bur was busy having it copied, and returned the originals to your Aunt, the same day. Since that time I have read and re-read the data, and every time I read it I think I feel a new thrill. It is the most wonderfully gotten up data I have ever had the pleasure of examining, and to think you were good enough to give it to me! I know I can never repay you, so I will just say, thanks a thousand times. Do you know that Rev. Tidence Lane is accredited with being a Revolutionary Patriot? My sisters have papers in the D.A.R. on his services. If you would like to have a copy of this paper I will gladly send it. My ancestor Lieut. Isaac Lane married Sarah Russell daughter of Capt. Geo. Russell and wife Elizabeth, maiden name unknown to me. Do you know any thing about the family of Agnes Fitzgerald, wife of Aquilla Lane? If you do not, and wish it, while I am trying to get some thing on the allied families, I will try that too. I have little hope of getting any thing on the Bibbin family, as I do not know hwere Tidence Lane married her. Certain it is, that nothing can be had from the Tenn. records, as I have tried every where I know. Did you try the Colonial records of N.C. for services for Tidence Lane? I note that you refer to Vol. 5 of the N.C. Colonial records, regarding his signing papers & etc. If you have not tried this, I will as the Chairman of the Committee of Claims of the N..C. Society of Colonial Dames, is a very good friend of mine, and has all the volumes of the Colonial records, in her possession. Any suggestions you may make about further work on the allied lines will be appreciated, and carried out to the best of my ability. Yours very truly, (Unsigned, but this is only a carbon of the letter and he didn't have space to type his initials.-Transcripationist.) ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005.
