THIS INDENTURE made the 14th day of February in the Year of our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-six between Joseph Pinson of Orange County of the one part and Hugh Pourter of the aforesaid County of the other part, witnesseth: That the said Joseph Pinson for and in consideration of the sum of Forty Shillings Virginia money to him in hand paid by the said Hugh Pourter at or before the sealingand delivery hereof the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, bargained and sold, aliened, released and confirmed unto Hugh Pourter his heirs and assigns for ever, all that tract, seat or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the County of Orange aforesaid on the East side of the North fork of Haw River and High Rock Creek, Beginning at a white oak by the said river side running thence East fifty chains to a white oak, thence North fifty five chains to the center of a gum, white oak and black oak, thence West seventy five chains to a Spanish oak, thence South forty chains to a maple at the mouth of High Rock Creek, thence down the river to the first station, containing Three Hundred and Ninety-five acres and also the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents and services thereof, and also all the estate, right-like interest, property claim and demand whatsoever of him, and said Joseph Pinson him, the said Joseph Pinson, of in and to the said premises and of in and parcel thereof--To have and to hold the said tract and parcel of land and premises above mentioned unto the said Hugh Pourter, to the only proper use and behoof of the said Hugh Pourter his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Joseph Pinson for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators doth covenant and grant to and with the said Hugh Pourter, his heirs and assigns by these presents that he, the said Joseph Pinson, the said tract or parcel of land and premises above mentioned unto the said Hugh Pourter, his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant and forever defend from all persons claiming by from or under him, the said Joseph Pinson his heirs, executors or administrators or any other person whatsoever. The within Deed of Bargain and sale from Joseph Pinson and is wife Mary to Hugh Pourter for 393 acres of land was proven in open court by the oath of John Roberson, one of the evidences thereto, and on motion ordered to be registered, James Watson, C.S.C. Test: A true copy Chas. Strayhorn, C.S.C. There is also a deed from Joseph Pinson to John Rees and Margaret his wife dated 1769, on record Orange Co, N.C. Deed from Wm. Dey to Jos. Brown, dated 1775. Will of Wm. Brown made 1764, probated in 1774 in which he divides his property to Margaret Ray, Wm. Brown McClintock & Jannette & David Alsones children. Will of Wm. Brown, made Nov. 19, 1794.
