Harriman, Tennessee, March 7, 1921. Miss Mary S. Kingsbury, 211 South Fifth Ave., Wilmington, N. C. My dear Miss Kingsbury:- Further regarding your letter of the 11th of Feb. about the Reese family, I have not yet been able to learn whether Thomas Reese of S.C. was the father of James Reese (m. Elizabeth Brown of S.C.) or not, but I am of the opinion that he was. In case this can be proven, would David Reese Sr., of N. C., be an eligible ancestor to the N.C. Colonial Dames? I note in the sketch you sent that he is one of the reputed delegates to the Mecklenburg Convention in May 1775, and as I understand it, would be an eligible ancestor, although you do not say so in your letter. Again, are there any eligible C.D. ancestors in the family or line of ascent through Susan Polk Reese?, and are there eligible services for Rev. Thomas Reese Jr.? I hope in a very short time to be able to make a report on the line of ascent proving the parentage of James Reese who married Elizabeth Brown, as well as Samuel Martin who married Julia Reese. This Samuel Martin was a son of Hugh Martin & Elizabeth McElwaine of N.C. Every good wish for you and yours, Cordially yours, CKH/K ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
