Harriman, Tennessee, April 9, 1921. My dear Miss Kingsbury:- I have not yet succeeded in getting the connection between my James J. Reese and David the “Signer” but I think I will before long. In looking up this connection I have run out the Brown line (James J. Reese married Elizabeth Brown) and find that Joseph Brown, b. Jan. 1, 1731, d. at Belton, S.C. Oct.16, 1815, married (something crossed out) Mary Porter Aug. 5, 1756, served as High Sheriff in Guildford Courthouse & etc. Wont you please let me know right away whether or not you can find any service in N.C. for him, which would be good for a Colonial Dames claim or not? This Joseph Brown was the father of Elizabeth Brown who married James Reese. I shall be very glad to hear from you in regard to this matter as early as possible. Thanking you for all past favors, I am, Most cordially yours, CHK/K ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
