Harriman, Tennessee, May 18, 1921. My dear Miss Kingsbury:- I think I have already answered your questions in your letter of the 13th in my letter which crossed enroute, but let me say again that you need not bother about getting any thing further of Rev. Thos. Reese of S.C. I feel sure my friend Mrs. Durell descends from his brother Solomon Trusten Reese and his wife Harriet Jack, through their son John Jack Reese who married Mollie (Mary) Mackey, however I have not yet found proof of this fact. I think I told you Mrs. Durell is descended from Hugh Porter of Orange Co. N. C., as well as Colonial Ancestors in Mass., but we were anxious to get her Reese line straight before filing any papers in the C.D.’s. As you know, if the Reeese line is straightened out, she will have a number of ancestors with eligible services in the Polk family too. I have been trying to get records from the Jack family to prove that Harriet Jsck Reese was the grandmother of James Reese who married Elizabeth Brown, but have not yet succeeded. My sister's application or nomination slip has not yet left Nashville, as the Tenn. Society have not had a meeting since her paper left Knoxville. Their Annual Meeting is to take place some time this month, at which time I suppose her application will be acted upon. It was weeks before it left Knoxville, which has caused most of the delay, but I am hoping it will reach you in time for your June meeting, then I don’t suppose it will get around to you before you re-open for the next season. Thank you so much for all you have done for me. I want some time to come to Wilmington to see you about my work as I think I can arrange to make it more profitable to both of us, but that probably is in the future. You have always been most kind to me and I appreciate it more than I can tell you. Let me know if I can be of any service to you at any time. Always your friend, CKH/K PS/ What about papers in the N.C.Society where ancestors served in VA.? I have been told it is extremely difficult to get papers through that State on account of so much red tape & etc. With ancestors who served in Va., must one be admitted through that State? Tell me about this when you write again. ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
