(handwritten letter) Baltimore, Jan 14/19 My dear Mr. Hill- Your two letters of the 19” ulto. have lain too long unanswered, but with the war & the flu, I feel that I shall never again catch up with my work. I could not treat Wheeler’s Reminiscences seriously, as they are full of errors. I do not ? for collaterals in your chart only your lineal line from your propositus. Give me, if you are married, the date of your marriage, the maiden name of your wife & the names of your children; if you have no children; if you have no children give me the names of your brothers & sisters & their children. What the Society wants to bring out, is who your successor would be. The annual meeting of the North Carolina Society of the Cincinnati will be held in April & I should like to have your application as much in advance of it as possible. Sincerely yours, John C.
