My dear Mr. Hill:-

   Your letter of the 4” inst. reached me yesterday & I
mailed you the printed data of the Society.  The “Rule of
1854” you will find in the second paper of the “By-Laws”,
it was adopted by the General Society of the Cincinnati in
1854.  Your William Hill was the one who was Lieutenant in
the 1st Regiment.  If you would kindly make out the chart
in the inside cover of the application, it would save me
much work.  We never issue our application blanks in
duplicate.
