My dear Sir:-

   In answer to your letter of the 10” inst.  I would say
that neither Lieut. Isaac Lane or Capt. William Sumner had
service in the North Carolina Continental Line, but had
service in the Militia, which would not entitle their
present representatives to membership in the Society of the
Cincinnati.
