My dear Mr. Daves:-  Your letter of the 28th
received, for which accept my thanks.

Please send me an application blank for membership.

Also send me the reference that William Hill
served as a Lieutenant in the 1st Regiment
North Carolina Continental Infantry, as the
only references I have are those given in my
letter of the 24th.  Records of this kind are
not available here and if you will give me the
reference it will save me considerable time
in looking it up elsewhere.
