W. CHAMPLIN ROBINSON, PRESIDENT WM. K. BARTLETT, VICE-PRESIDENT JOHN C. DAVES, SECRETARY THE TRUSTEES OF THE SHEPPARD AND ENOCH PRATT HOSPITAL 212-214 CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, BALTIMORE, MD. (stamped) AUG 12, 1925 My dear Mr. Hill, Your letter of the 10th reached me today. In your former letter I had overlooked the heading: “Virginia Continental Army Land;” as it turns out, it is up to us to prove that Lieut. William Randolph was not a Continental Officer, the data about the officers of the Virginia Continental Line are most incomplete and meager from the fact that the muster rolls of the Va. Line knocked about the Treasury Building in Washington for some years, and then were wantonly burned up to make room for something else. It would be a good thing if you wrote to Richmond and ask if they could tell you to what regiment Wm. Randolph belonged to and what date he was made a Lieutenant, and then let me know the result of your inquiry, then we shall see what can be done about it. Our good member John W. Grant of Atlanta is often kept away from our meeting by the “Metropolitan Opera Co”, against which I am beginning to have quite a grudge; next year we shall have our meeting early in April, which will give both you and Grant an opportunity to attend. Sincerely yours, John C. Daves ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved. Archivist: Transcription and scan by G.
