Dear Mr. Hill:

   Your preliminary application and two
letters I have passed on to the Secretary of the
Society of Colonial Wars, from whom you should hear
later.  My legalized part in the affair will be
formally to verify your papers when in due course
they come to me through the Registrar.

   Meanwhile, in re your letter of the
thirteenth, the quotations of course establish
William Strother’s eligibility as a propositus, but not
that of Anthony Savage – or rather, his being justice and
sheriff would not qualify him.

   Trusting before long to have the pleasure of approving
your papers, I am,
