Harriman, Tennessee, Dec. 1, 1921. Mr. Morgan P. Robinson, Secy., 113 South Third St., Richmond, Va. My dear Mr. Robinson:- Your letter of the 19th received, for which accept my thanks. When I forwarded my application papers to you on Oct. 20, 1921, I sent two letters of recommendation, which I had understood from Mr. James Branch Cabell would be all that was necessary in the way of endorsements, on account of the fact that I do not know personally any members of the Va. Society of Colonial Wars. Of course I understand that the rule is that one must be endorsed by two members of the Society, but I understood from Mr. Cabell that it had not always been enforced. I am returning herewith the two papers and I trust under the circumstances that they can be accepted, however if they cannot, you may return my check of Oct. 20, 1921. If this misunderstanding will cause any one embarrassment, please do not hesitate to return my check and consider the matter closed. Thanking you very much for past favors, I am, Cordially yours, CKH/K ================================================== Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005. All rights reserved.
