                                 August 19, 1920.

Mrs. A. S. Bowen,
Chickamauga, Ga.

My dear Mrs. Bowen:- I have been informed that you
are a descendant of the Russell family, through Capt.
George Russell and wife Elizabeth, of Grainger County,
Tenn., and I am taking the liberty of writing to know
if you have any data of the family back of Capt. George?

I am especially interested in the names of the parents of
Capt. George Russell, in fact the line as far back
you may have it. Do you know the maiden name of Elizabeth
wife of George Russell?

I am especially interested in Colonial records in the
Russell family as I am preparing Colonia Dame papers for
my sister at the present time, and would like very much
to have any in this family, that they might be verified
along with the others.

Some one told me that likely George Russell came from
Fincastle County Va., and if he did I would like to
have proof that he was a son of William Russell, who
was a Member of the Convention of 1775 which met at
Williamsburg, as this is sufficient for Colonial Dame
papers. Are you a Colonial Dame or a D.A.R.? I have
proof for a D.A.R. paper in the Russell family, if you
are interested.

I shall be glad to hear from you as to what data you have
on the Russell family and what your charges are for it.

Yours very truly,

CKH/K

PS. I forgot to say I too descend from George Russell
through his daughter Sarah who married Lieut. Isaac
Lane.
